Also works for most of those news sites like WSJ or NYT that only let you read a little bit, or block adblockers. Also some disable the scroll bar but if you go to the right side of the console after hitting F12 and look for the CSS element “overflow” and change it from “hidden” to “visible” then you can continue scrolling for free. Might have to click around on different parts of the page to find it, but it should work.

One of the reasons none of it made any difference is that it all happened in 2003, when Bush was pushing to invade Iraq. When he wanted to invade Afghanistan immediately after 9/11, most of the people who didn’t want to go to Iraq were screaming for blood, and that put the whole machine in motion.

(It also doesn’t help that the Democratic Party never under any circumstances holds its candidates responsible for their failures. Nobody got primaried for voting for the Afghanstan war. Nobody got primaried for voting for the Iraq war. Nobody got primaried for voting for the PATRIOT Act. The Democrats ran for Congress on a platform of “let’s end the wars even if we have to impeach Bush to do it” in 2006, took a filibuster-proof majority, and then once in office immediately announced that impeachment was “off the table” (it’s one of Nancy Pelosi’s pet phrases) and then funded Bush’s “surge” in Iraq, and none of them were primaried for that. Obama ran on a platform of ending Bush’s wars in 2008, refused to do so and in fact asked for — and got — another “surge” in Iraq, plus he let Hillary Clinton talk him into invading Libya in 2011 on the exact same kind of lies as the Bush administration used for Iraq, and nobody from his administration paid any sort of penalty, either. On the contrary: arch war-hawk Hillary Clinton got the 2016 Presidential nomination, and an army of imbeciles crying “blue no matter who” were turned loose.)

Americans bought the hegemonic propaganda that the reason they pulled out of Vietnam was because of hippies protesting with flowers, rather than the truth of the most advanced and over-funded military the world has ever known simply being bested by peasants and farmers beating back imperial colonialism.

Some dude in 2020: You should not judge a historical figure, a man from the past, by the modern ethics! He was a product of his time. 500 years ago his actions were completely normal! It’s present-ism, we can’t judge… bla-bla-bla…

People from 500 years ago: Oh my, this guy is such a bastard, a genocidal butcher, a total piece of garbage. Let’s keep records of this douche so people from the future shall hate him too.

Columbus’s crew were writing about what a genocidal monster he was. There were mutinies and uprisings by his crews and colonists constantly. If his contemporaries were willing to risk the ire of the queen of Spain to oppose him, we have every right to call him out on it too.

Apple propaganda notwithstanding, the reason tower PCs are big isn’t because they’re outdated. The reason tower PCs are so bulky is because they’re designed to be user serviceable. The case has lots of open space so your big, meaty hands can easily access all of the components, and everything is secured with friction-fit tabs and standard machine screws to minimise the need for specialised tools. A properly laid out tower PC is fully serviceable with a single Phillips-head screwdriver and no greater manual skill than your average Lego playset – heck, for some of the more modern case layouts you don’t even need the screwdriver, unless you’re performing major surgery like a full motherboard replacement.

Like, think about who benefits from convincing you that a fully modular computing device that can be serviced and repaired with your bare hands and minimal technical skill is unfashionable.

A gigantic glowing orb, as wide as the London Eye and almost as tall as Big Ben, is planned to descend on Stratford, bulging on to the skyline like a great artificial sun, dazzling the East End with the power of 36 million LEDs.

The building’s facade is a five-acre spherical TV screen, like Times Square rolled into a ball. It is set to glow 24 hours a day, covered with animated adverts for half the time, flickering right outside people’s bedroom windows.

holy shit this BNHA drama might be one of the funniest things to happen in the history of manga I am YELLING

for people who haven't been tracking this, the official translation for chapter 321 of the BNHA dropped today and it includes this page:

image

this is Mineta, one of the franchises' many side characters, describing how he "fell for" the main character, Deku. Now while there has been some debate over if this translation is accurate, fan translators have dug into the original text and found that the verb he's using here in Japanese is almost always used to mean "fell in love with" so while this may not pan out in the long run, this appears to be Mineta coming out as either gay or bi.

to put into context how funny this is, BNHA has a massive shipping community (mostly centered around various combinations of the male leads) who have been begging for gay representation in the series for YEARS. There are people who have gone to Johnlock levels of trutherism for some of these ships like it's that insane.

But Mineta is NOT one of those characters that people like shipping with the other boys. In fact, Mineta is, by far, the most hated character in the whole series. Mineta is nearly universally regarded as being annoying, unfunny, and awful. His entire personality is that he's a lecherous pervert who will take every opportunity he can get to peep on or sexually harass the girls. People fucking DISPISE this guy. There are well populated tags on AO3 for him being either dead, absent from the story, or replaced by another character. Also he looks like this:

like I'm sorry but I cannot stop laughing at this it's such a monkey's paw ass turn of events like "oh what's that BNHA fandom, you want a canon gay character? here you go! [finger curls]"

I know nothing about the hero academics anime but thanks to this post I learned it apparently has a character called "pussy eating" in Polish

Unquestionably.
